First Initial Sessions
Counseling intake sessions are designed to evaluate your physical and mental health, discuss your reason(s) for starting therapy, develop a treatment plan to alleviate mental health symptoms, discuss a therapeutic approach, determine whether you meet medical necessity for insurance coverage, and answer any questions and concerns you have about the counseling process, your privacy, and payment. This does not include talk therapy.
Individual Counseling
Counseling, also known as Talk Therapy, is an individual session with a Licensed Professional Counselor designated for individuals wishing to process and explore their thoughts. Therapeutic approaches used are ACT, CBT, DBT, and Solution Focus. Typically, meetings are weekly or bi-weekly. This does not include an intake session. Individual Counseling is a great form of self-care.
Trauma Therapy
Trauma Therapy is an individual session with a Licensed Professional Counselor and Certified Clinical Trauma Professional. Our counseling is designated for individuals who wish to process unresolved trauma, childhood trauma, and generational trauma. Therapeutic Approaches used are CBT, CPT, and TF-CBT. Typically, meetings are weekly or bi-weekly. This does not include intake sessions. However, therapy will be designed to the client’s needs.
EMDR Therapy
EMDR Therapy is an individual session with a Licensed Professional Counselor trained in its methodology and is designated for individuals who wish to process unresolved trauma. To learn more about how EMDR can help you click here. EMDR Therapy is typically done on a weekly or bi-weekly basis. This does not include an intake session or target planning.
Couples Therapy
Couples Therapy is a couples session with a Licensed Professional Counselor who is trained and experienced in working with partners who are struggling with communication, intimacy, infidelity, and other life transitions. Relationship Counseling is not for couples who are uncertain about whether they want to stay together. See discernment counseling for more details. Typically, meetings are weekly or bi-weekly. This does not include intake sessions.
Discernment Counseling
Discernment Counseling is for Couples who are struggling with “how to move forward,” with one partner wanting to save the marriage/relationship while the other partner is uncertain and/or leaning toward ending the relationship. Discernment counseling is about empowering couples to make a collaborative decision about their future and does not view divorce as a failure or staying together as a success. Family Counseling
Family Therapy is a family session with a Licensed Professional Counselor trained and experienced in working with families who are struggling with communication, blending, and adapting to life transitions. Therapeutic approaches used are ACT, CBT, DBT, and Solution Focus. Typically, meetings are weekly or bi-weekly. This does not include an intake session.
Group Counseling
Group Counseling is a group session with up to 10 clients held by a qualified mental health professional and supervised by a Licensed Professional Counselor. Group counseling is a great way to supplement counseling. Therapeutic approaches used are ACT, CBT, DBT, and Solution Focus. Typically, 60 minutes meetings are weekly 90 minutes are bi-weekly. This does not include intake interviews.
Appointment Cancellation and Refund Policy
Appointment Cancellation Policy:
A minimum 48-hour notice for cancellation is required. Mending-hearts reserves the right to charge you the full session rate if you have given us less than 48 hours notice. I understand that sometimes canceling a session is unavoidable. Please contact us to explain the situation. Mending-hearts is not inclined to charge you for missing a session as long as you have tried to contact us as soon as possible. Please give us as much notice as possible in order for us to allocate the session to someone else. If I cannot allocate the session, you will be charged the full session rate.
Refund Policy:
All appointments canceled 48 hours before the appointment will be fully refunded. Please allow seven business days to process your request. There are circumstances in which it is not possible to give a 48-hour notice in certain events. We have the option at our discretion to reschedule your appointment at a later time if you are not able to cancel your appointment within the 48-hour window. This option is typically for emergencies only with verified documentation.
